Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 20/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system is centred over the Tasman Sea. A broad trough of low pressure over the west of the State will move eastwards, reaching the northeast of the State on Monday, where it will remain stationary through to the middle of the week. A strong high pressure system will develop southwest of Western Australia later this week.
Forecast for the rest of SundayThe chance of showers and thunderstorms extending from the west, reaching Coober Pedy to Kingscote later this evening. Showers and thunderstorms more likely west of Ceduna to Ernabella. Possible gusty winds and heavy falls with thunderstorms in the far west. Hot to very hot with moderate northeast to northwesterly winds ahead of a milder southerly change, extending from the west and south during the day or evening.Monday 22 DecemberA medium chance of showers and possible thunderstorms extending from the west to reach areas west of Oodnadatta to Renmark late evening, but also gradually clearing in the west. The slight chance of showers and thunderstorms northeast of Moomba in the late afternoon or evening. Hot in the northeast with moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, mild to warm elsewhere with moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 23 DecemberThe slight chance of showers and thunderstorms east of Ernabella to Keith, contracting northeastwards to be northeast of Marree late evening. The slight chance of showers near southern and western coasts. Mild grading to hot in the northeast with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds, tending northeast to northwesterly in the far northeast.Wednesday 24 December
The slight chance of showers about far southern and western coasts, and the slight chance of showers and thunderstorms northeast of Marree. Mild grading to hot in the far northeast with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals to midnight Wednesday are expected to be less than 2 mm. Totals increasing to 2 to 10 mm over western Eyre Peninsula, the West Coast and parts of the North West Pastoral districts, with possible falls of 10 to 40 mm with thunderstorms.
Thursday until SaturdayThe slight chance of showers and thunderstorms northeast of Moomba, clearing later Thursday. The slight chance of showers about coastal areas and southern ranges, clearing on Saturday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Sunday.Product IDS10033
