MELBOURNE - Dec 19/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure centre is expected to become established near the New South Wales coast today, with a ridge extending northwards to the Queensland coast. This high is expected to drift slowly eastwards across the Tasman Sea during the coming days, whilst a trough of low pressure develops over the west of the state. The deepening of this trough early in the new week is likely to bring increasingly unsettled weather to many districts, with little change to the pattern through much of the week. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayThe chance of showers about the ranges and coast in the north, and possibly about the Snowy Mountains area in the afternoon. Fine elsewhere, with mostly sunny conditions west of the Divide. East to southeasterly winds near the coast, tending light and variable inland.Sunday 21 DecemberThe chance of showers and thunderstorms in the northeast, becoming more likely about the tablelands in the afternoon. Possible afternoon showers over the southern ranges. Fine elsewhere. Hot day in the far west. East to northeasterly winds.Monday 22 DecemberFine along the coast, and in the far west. The chance of showers and thunderstorms elsewhere, mainly afternoon. Hot day in the west. North to northeasterly winds.Tuesday 23 DecemberThe chance of showers and thunderstorms across much of the state, although less likely in the far northeast and southwest.
