MELBOURNE - Dec 19/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front is expected to reach the far north coast Friday afternoon. High pressure is then expected to become established off the coast again during Saturday with a ridge north to the Queensland coast. The high will remain over the Tasman Sea for a number of days whilst a trough of low pressure develops over the west of the state. This is likely to bring further unsettled weather from Monday across much of the state. The trough should be slow-moving with little change to the pattern through much of next week. Forecast for the rest of FridaySlight chance of late showers on the eastern slopes of the northern ranges and north coast. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to southwesterly winds extending throughout the northeast by the late afternoon.Saturday 20 DecemberSlight to medium chance of showers about the ranges and coast in the north. Fine elsewhere. East to southeast winds near the coast, tending light and variable inland.Sunday 21 DecemberMedium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms over the northeast. Slight chance of afternoon showers over the southern ranges. Fine elsewhere. Hot in the far west. East to northeast winds.Monday 22 DecemberSlight to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms on and west of the ranges. Hot in the west. North to northeast winds.Tuesday 23 DecemberMedium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms across much of the state, slight over the far northeast and far southwest.
