MELBOURNE - Dec 18/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front/trough system is moving through northeastern New South Wales and it will weaken over the far northeast later on Friday as a high pressure system moves over southeastern Australia. By Sunday the high will become slow-moving over the southern Tasman Sea extending a ridge along the coast and another trough of low pressure will move over the west of the state on Monday bringing return to unsettled weather conditions across much of the state. A little change in the synoptic pattern is expected over the next few days. Forecast for the rest of FridaySlight chance of late showers on the eastern slopes of ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to southwesterly winds extending throughout the northeast by the late afternoon.Fire Danger - Very High for the Far North Coast, Northern Slopes, North Western and the Upper Central West Plains fire districts.Saturday 20 DecemberSlight chance of showers or drizzle patches about the ranges and north coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. East to southeast winds near the coast, tending light and variable inland.Sunday 21 DecemberModerate chance of showers and thunderstorms over the northeast. Slight chance of an afternoon showers over southern coastal ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Hot in the far west. East to northeast winds.Monday 22 DecemberSlight to moderate chance of showers and thunderstorms, mostly on and west of the ranges. Hot in the west.
