Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 18/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high will develop over the Bight on Friday, then move slowly east as a broad trough develops over western parts of the State during the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdaySlight chance of showers about southern coasts. Slight chance of showers in the north of the State, increasing to a high chance in the far northwest. The chance of thunderstorms in the north, more likely in the far northwest. Cool to mild in the south, grading to hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds.Friday 19 DecemberFine apart from possible thundery showers in the far northwest and the slight chance of light morning shower about southern coasts. Mild in the south, grading to hot in the north. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh about central and western coasts with afternoon sea breezes.Saturday 20 DecemberFine apart from possible thundery showers in the far west, increasing to a high chance in the far northwest during the afternoon and evening. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds. Mild to warm in the south, hot in the north.Sunday 21 DecemberThundery showers extending across the far west to be west of a line from Port Augusta to Cape Jervis by late evening on Sunday. Showers and thunderstorms more likely west of Pukatja to Nullarbor, with possible heavy falls. Hot to very hot with light to moderate northerly winds ahead of a milder southerly change, extending from the west and south during the day.Monday 22 December
A medium chance of showers, though less likely over the North East Pastoral, Riverland and Murraylands. The chance of thunderstorms. Showers and storms gradually clearing from western parts. Hot in the northeast with moderate northwesterly winds, mild to warm elsewhere with moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals to midnight Monday are expected to be less than 5 mm, increasing to 5 to 10 mm over western Eyre Peninsula and the eastern parts of the West Coast and North West Pastoral. Totals increasing to 10 to 30 mm west of Pukatja to Nullarbor with isolated heavier falls up to 80mm possible with thunderstorm activity in this area.
Tuesday until ThursdayShowers and thunderstorms continuing over the Northeast Pastoral, gradually contracting to northeast of Moomba by Thursday. The chance of showers elsewhere, contracting to southern coasts Tuesday afternoon. Mild with moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Friday.Product IDS10033
