Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 16/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough lies from the northwest of the state to the central part of the coast. It is expected to be slow moving over the inland while along the coast the trough and associated southerly change will move northward during the day and gradually weaken. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are likely in the northeast with this change. A weak ridge is forecast to pass across southern districts tonight and early Thursday, before another trough and southwest to southerly change affect the state during Thursday and Friday. Another weak high pressure ridge should move over southern parts of the state later Friday and Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms likely about the northern coast and ranges this afternoon and evening, and possible over the northern inland. Drizzle patches likely about the southern and central tablelands and south coast, chiefly evening. Fine elsewhere, and mostly sunny west of the ranges. A hot day in the north with west to northwesterly winds before a southerly change along the coast. Milder elsewhere with southwest to southeasterly winds, strong and gusty along the coast at first.Fire Danger -  Severe: North Western. Very High: Far North Coast, Greater Hunter, Northern Slopes, Upper and Lower Central West Plains.Thursday 18 DecemberShowers and the chance of thunderstorms in the northeast, mainly afternoon. Possible showers about the southern and central coasts, and across the northern inland. Fine about the central and southern inland. East to northeasterly winds near the coast, and northwest to southwesterly winds inland.Friday 19 DecemberThe chance of a shower or some drizzle patches about the tablelands, mainly in the evening. fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to southwesterly winds extending throughout, fresh near the coast.Saturday 20 DecemberThe chance of showers or drizzle patches about the coast and adjacent ranges, more likely in the north. Fine and generally sunny west of the Divide. East to southeast winds near the coast, tending light and variable inland.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Wednesday.Product IDN10031
