Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 15/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over eastern Victoria will drift eastwards this morning. A cold front will move rapidly across the State during the afternoon and evening. A weak high pressure system will move quickly across Victoria on Wednesday then another cold front will rapidly cross Victoria on Thursday. A new high pressure system will move over Bight waters on Friday with a ridge extending to southern Victoria.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms in central and eastern areas contracting eastwards and clearing during the morning. Scattered showers developing from the west over southern and mountain districts during the afternoon and evening. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, strong to gale force about Alpine areas in the morning ahead of a cooler, strong and squally west to southwesterly change extending from the west about midday and reaching the east late in the evening. Areas of raised dust in the northwest following the change.Fire Danger -  Severe to Extreme in the north. High to Very High in southern areas.Wednesday 17 DecemberIsolated showers about the coast clearing by the afternoon. A mild to warm and mostly sunny day with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Thursday 18 DecemberScattered showers developing over southern and mountain districts. Warm at first in the north and east but a cooler fresh southwesterly change extending from the west in the morning to reach the east late in the day.Friday 19 DecemberShowers in southern areas becoming isolated from the west. A cool to mild day with moderate southwest to southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Tuesday.Product IDV10310
