MELBOURNE - Dec 15/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure over the north of the the State will slowly move north and reach the northern border on Wednesday. A cold front will reach the western border around midnight and move across the south of the State on Tuesday before a high moves over the Bight on Wednesday. Another front moves across the south of the State on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayThe slight chance of thundery showers in the afternoon over the Northwest Pastoral west of about Coober Pedy. Fine elsewhere. Moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh near the coasts, tending fresh to strong north to northwesterly over the North East Pastoral bringing areas of raised dust, but southwest to southerly winds extending further northeastwards in the evening.Tuesday 16 DecemberThe chance of showers developing over the southern agricultural area south of Adelaide. Possible thundery showers over pastoral districts north of about Woomera, more likely in the far northwest. Mild, grading to hot in the far north. Light winds, becoming fresh to strong west to northwest in the east during the day, ahead of a cooler fresh to strong southwest change near the western border early morning, extending to the northeast interior during the afternoon.Wednesday 17 DecemberPossible thundery showers in the far northwest, extending over pastoral districts north of about Roxby Downs and becoming more likely in the far northwest. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot to very hot in the northeast. Light to moderate southwest to southeast winds.Thursday 18 DecemberPossible thundery showers over pastoral districts north of about Coober Pedy, more likely in the far northwest. The chance of showers over the southern agricultural area. Cool to mild in the south, grading to hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh south to southwest winds.Friday 19 December Possible thundery showers in the far northwest. A slight chance of showers over the south coast of Kangaroo Island and the South East coast. Mild in the south, grading to hot in the north. Cumulative rainfall totals to midnight Friday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over the Lower South East district and northwest of Roxby Downs, with local falls of 5 to 20 mm with thunderstorms in the far northwest. Less than 2 mm elsewhere. Saturday until MondayA slight chance of showers about the Lower South East coast on Saturday. Possible thundery showers in the far northwest on Saturday and across the far west on Sunday and becoming hot.
