MELBOURNE - Dec 13/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is weakening. A trough of low pressure will remain over the north of the the State. A weak front will move over the south of the State on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFine apart from the slight chance of showers and possible thunderstorms near western coasts. Mostly hot with light to moderate southeasterly winds, becoming milder, fresh, southwest to southeasterly in the west and near southern coasts.Sunday 14 DecemberThe slight chance of showers extending to areas southwest of about Ernabella to Broken Hill. The chance of thunderstorms over the agricultural area and south of the North East Pastoral, contracting northeastwards during the day. Mild to warm near southern coasts, grading to hot to very hot in the north. Light to moderate northerly winds, tending moderate to fresh south to southeasterly over the agricultural area and in the west.Monday 15 DecemberThe slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, chiefly in the afternoon, over the northern agricultural area east of the ranges, the North East Pastoral south of Yunta, and in the far northwest of the State. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot to very hot in the northeast. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds, tending northeast to northwesterly over the North East Pastoral, but southwest to southerly winds extending further northeastwards in the evening.Tuesday 16 DecemberThe slight chance of showers developing over the southern agricultural area south of Adelaide. Possible thundery showers over the North West Pastoral to the northwest of about Woomera, and over the West Coast north and west of Ceduna. Mild grading to hot in the far north with moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds, tending northerly at times over the North East Pastoral.Wednesday 17 December The slight chance of showers and thunderstorms over the Pastoral and Flinders districts. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot to very hot in the northeast. Mainly moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending northeast to northerly over the eastern half of the State. Cumulative rainfall totals through to midnight Wednesday are expected to be less than 2 mm, possibly increasing to localised values of 2 to 10 mm with thunderstorms. Thursday until SaturdayThe slight chance of showers and thunderstorms over the Pastoral districts, contracting eastwards and clearing during Thursday evening.
