Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 12/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high over Tasmania is gradually extending a ridge along the New South Wales coast in the wake of a trough, which now stretches across Queensland and the Tasman Sea. During the weekend this high will drift slowly east, resulting in a weaker pressure pattern and mostly fine conditions across the state. The next low pressure trough is expected to approach from the west late on the weekend, bringing showers to some districts as it crosses New South Wales early in the new week.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayShowers along the northern coast and ranges, and possibly along southern and central parts in the morning. Fine and mostly sunny west of the Divide. East to southeasterly winds, fresh at times in the northeast. Dangerous surf conditions along the central and northern coasts.Sunday 14 DecemberThe chance of a shower or two about the northern coast and adjacent ranges, and late in the day along the southern border. Fine and mostly sunny in the west. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast, tending mostly light and variable inland.Monday 15 DecemberThe chance of showers in most southern and eastern districts, with possible afternoon thunderstorms along the ranges and the southern inland. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Northeast to southeasterly winds near the coast, with light winds in the west becoming fresh northwesterly later in the day.Tuesday 16 DecemberThe chance of showers in central and eastern districts, with the possibility of afternoon thunderstorms in the east. Fine in the west. Northwest to northeasterly winds in the east, and northwest to southwesterly winds in the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Saturday.Product IDN10031
