MELBOURNE - Dec 11/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A complex low pressure system off the northern NSW coast is expected to move slowly to the east over the next 24 hours as a high moves into the southern Tasman Sea. Strong to gale force southeasterly winds along central and northern parts of the coast will ease somewhat today.The low is expected to move slowly further to the east over the weekend as a weak ridge becomes established across NSW. A low pressure trough will cross NSW early next week with a return to unsettled weather. Forecast for the rest of FridayHigh to very high chance of showers along the northern coast and ranges. Medium to high chance of showers along the southern coast and adjacent ranges. Fine and mostly sunny west of the ranges apart from a possible shower or thunderstorm near the Queensland border. Southeasterly winds extending throughout, fresh and gusty in many districts and strong along the northern coast. Dangerous surf conditions north of Port Hacking.Fire Danger - Very high:Northern and Southern Slopes, Northwestern, Upper and Lower Central West Plains, Eastern Riverina.Saturday 13 DecemberHigh to very high chance of showers the northeast. Medium to high chance of showers on the southern half of the coast and on adjacent ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds. Dangerous surf conditions north of Port Hacking.Sunday 14 DecemberSlight to medium chance of showers on the coast and on adjacent ranges and in the far southern inland. Partly cloudy in the west. South to southeasterly winds turning northeasterlyMonday 15 DecemberSlight to medium chance of showers in the southeastern half of the state.
