MELBOURNE - Dec 11/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system south of the Bight will move across Tasmania on Friday and over the southern Tasman Sea on Saturday. A low pressure trough will cross waters south of the Bight on Saturday, enter western Victoria during Sunday and become slow moving over central and eastern Victoria on Monday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers over the east becoming isolated during the evening. Isolated showers clearing over the Central district. Fine elsewhere. Isolated thunderstorms in the the far east clearing tonight. Fresh south to southeasterly winds.Friday 12 DecemberIsolated showers over Gippsland and near the Otways clearing eastwards during the day. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Cool to mild in the south, but warmer north of the divide with moderate to locally fresh east to southeasterly winds.Fire Danger - Generally High.Saturday 13 DecemberFine and mostly sunny with light north to northeasterly winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Sunday 14 DecemberGenerally fine and warm to hot with a light to moderate northerly wind. A cooler southerly change developing in the west during the afternoon before extending to central areas during the evening. Isolated showers possible in the south near the change. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the eastern ranges during the afternoon and evening.Monday 15 DecemberScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the east. Isolated showers in the west but mostly fine over the northwest. Warm in the north and east but milder in the southwest.
