Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 11/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad low pressure trough lies over inland New South Wales, while a weak high pressure ridge lies south of Tasmania. The inland trough is expected to deepen Thursday in response to an approaching upper-level system, with a low developing offshore near the southern and central coasts. Towards the end of the week, this system will shift northwards out in the Tasman Sea as the next high strengthens over Tasmania. Through this period, many eastern and northern districts are likely to see a resurgence of unsettled weather.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayVery high chance of showers and thunderstorms in the northeast, thunderstorms possible heavy falls. Medium to high chance of showers over the remainder, clearing from the southwest during the day with high chance of thunderstorms in the far west. Northwest to northeasterly winds in the north. South to southeasterly winds elsewhere, becoming fresh and gusty about the southern and central coasts.Friday 12 DecemberHigh chance of showers the northeast, with possible thunderstorms in the north. Medium to high chance of showers on the southern half of the coast and on adjacent ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. East to southeasterly winds extending throughout, fresh and gusty in many districts. Dangerous surf conditions north of Port Hacking.Saturday 13 DecemberHigh to very high chance of showers the northeast. Medium to high chance of showers on the southern half of the coast and on adjacent ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds. Dangerous surf conditions north of Port Hacking.Sunday 14 DecemberSlight to medium chance of showers on the coast and on adjacent ranges and in the far southern inland. Partly cloudy in the west.
