MELBOURNE - Dec 10/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A broad low pressure trough lies over inland New South Wales, while a weak high pressure ridge lies south of Tasmania. The inland trough is expected to deepen Thursday in response to an approaching upper-level system, with a low developing offshore near the southern and central coasts. Towards the end of the week, this system will shift northwards out in the Tasman Sea as the next high strengthens over Tasmania. Through this period, many eastern and northern districts are likely to see a resurgence of unsettled weather. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayVery high chance of rain in the northeast, with possible heavy falls. Medium to high chance of showers over the remainder, clearing from the southwest during the day. The chance of thunderstorms, especially across the northeast where some are expected to be severe. Northwest to northeasterly winds in the north. South to southeasterly winds elsewhere, becoming fresh and gusty about the southern and central coasts.Friday 12 DecemberPartly cloudy in the southwest. Very high chance of rain in the northeast, with possible heavy falls in the north. Medium to high chance of showers elsewhere, except for the southwest where it is expected to be dry.
