Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 10/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system lies well south of Tasmania. A low pressure trough over South Australia will drift over New South Wales on Thursday and Friday. Another high pressure system will cross waters south of the Bight on Thursday then will move across Tasmania on Friday, reaching the Tasman Sea on Saturday. The next low pressure trough will cross waters south of the Bight on Saturday before entering western Victoria during Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayPatchy rain over the northwest. Isolated showers elsewhere tending scattered in the east with isolated thunderstorms. Generally light to moderate southwest to southerly.Thursday 11 DecemberPatchy rain over the far northwest clearing during the morning. Isolated showers elsewhere tending scattered in the east but showers contracting to Gippsland during the late afternoon and evening. Isolated thunderstorms in the east clearing later. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy in the south and warmer in the north. Fresh southeasterly winds throughout.Fire Danger -  Low to moderate in Gippsland. High to very high elsewhere.Friday 12 DecemberIsolated showers over the south, mainly affecting Gippsland, clearing eastwards during the day. Dry and sunny over the north. Cool to mild in the south, but warmer north of the divide with moderate to locally fresh east to southeasterly winds.Saturday 13 DecemberFine and mostly sunny with light north to northeasterly winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Sunday 14 DecemberGenerally fine and warm to hot with a light to moderate northerly wind. A cooler southerly change developing in the west during the afternoon and evening with isolated showers possible in the south near the change.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
