Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 10/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad low pressure trough lies over inland New South Wales, while a high pressure system south of Tasmania extends a ridge along the coast. The inland trough is expected to deepen later today and Thursday in response to an approaching upper-level system, with a low developing offshore as the coastal ridge weakens. Towards the end of the week, this system will shift northwards as the next high strengthens over Tasmania. Through this period, many eastern and northern districts are likely to see a resurgence of unsettled weather.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayPartly cloudy in the far northwest. Medium chance of showers in the southwest. High to very high chance of showers and thunderstorms elsewhere. East to northeasterly winds near the coast, freshening in the south, and southwest to northwesterly winds inland.Thursday 11 DecemberVery high chance of rain in the northeast, with possible heavy falls. Medium to high chance of showers over the remainder. The chance of thunderstorms, especially across the north. Northwest to northeasterly winds in the north. South to southeasterly winds elsewhere, becoming fresh and gusty about the southern and central coasts.Friday 12 DecemberPartly cloudy in the southwest. Very high chance of rain in the northeast, with possible heavy falls in the north. Medium to high chance of showers elsewhere. The chance of thunderstorms in the north. East to southeasterly winds extending throughout, fresh and gusty in many districts.Saturday 13 DecemberPartly cloudy in the southwestern half. Very high chance of showers in the far northeast. Medium to high chance of showers elsewhere. The chance of thunderstorms in the north. Southeast to northeasterly winds, fresh and gusty along much of the coast.Sunday 14 DecemberSlight to medium chance of showers in the east with the chance of thunderstorms in the far northeast.
