Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 9/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad low pressure trough lies over inland New South Wales, while a high pressure system south of Tasmania extends a ridge along the coast. The inland trough is expected to deepen later today and Thursday in response to an approaching upper-level system, with a low developing offshore as the coastal ridge weakens. Towards the end of the week, this system will shift northwards as the next high strengthens over Tasmania. Through this period, many eastern and northern districts are likely to see a resurgence of unsettled weather.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayHigh to very high chance of showers in the east, particularly about the tablelands during the afternoon and evening. Medium chance of late showers over the southern inland, while remaining fine in the northwest. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms likely about the central and northern ranges, and adjacent districts. East to northeasterly winds near the coast, freshening in the south, and southwest to northwesterly winds inland.Thursday 11 DecemberHigh to very high chance of rain in the east and north, with possible heavy falls. Medium chance of showers over the remainder. Thunderstorms possible, especially across the north. Northwest to northeasterly winds in the north. South to southeasterly winds elsewhere, becoming fresh and gusty about the southern and central coasts.Friday 12 DecemberHigh chance of rain in the east and north, with possible heavy falls in the north. Chance of thunderstorms in the north. Fine in the southwest. East to southeasterly winds extending throughout, fresh and gusty in many districts.Saturday 13 DecemberSlight to medium chance of showers in the east and north, grading to a high chance along the coast and ranges north from the Hunter. Fine in the west. Southeast to northeasterly winds, fresh and gusty along much of the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Wednesday.Product IDN10031
