Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 9/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system and associated low pressure trough over the west of the State will move eastwards during Wednesday. A high pressure system will develop southwest of the Bight on Wednesday and then move south of the Bight on Thursday to be centred over the Tasman Sea on Friday. A new trough of low pressure will move over southern and western parts on Saturday then deepen over land on Sunday and Monday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayThe slight chance of showers developing over most districts, increasing to a medium to high chance over central parts north of about Kingscote to Keith. Slight chance of thunderstorms north of about Keith, more likely over the Pastoral, Flinders, Mid North, West Coast and Eyre Peninsula districts. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds about the coasts. Conditions hot to very hot inland with light to moderate northeasterly winds, becoming fresh to strong and gusty northerly over the pastoral districts. Winds shifting fresh to strong and gusty southerly in the far west, extending east to reach Oodnadatta to Broken Hill by evening.Thursday 11 DecemberThe slight chance of showers and thunderstorms northeast of Oodnadatta to Woomera to Clare, more likely over the Flinders and North East Pastoral districts. Showers and thunderstorms contracting to the far northeast during the afternoon. Slight chance of light morning showers about the southern coasts. Mild in the south grading to warm to hot in the north. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds extending throughout.Friday 12 DecemberFine apart from the slight chance of showers and thunderstorms northeast of Leigh Creek. Cool to mild in the south, hot in the north. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds.Saturday 13 December
Fine. Warm to hot about the coasts, hot to very hot inland. Light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds, tending moderate southerly in the south during the day.
Cumulative rainfall totals through to midnight Saturday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm over the agricultural area north of about Kingscote to Keith, possibly increasing to localised values of 10 to 20 mm with thunderstorms, less then 2 mm elsewhere.
Sunday until TuesdayThe chance of showers developing about the coasts on Sunday, extending over the southern agricultural area and far northwest on Monday and Tuesday. Warm to hot, grading to very hot in the north. Moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of milder, fresh southerly change extending from the west during Sunday and Monday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Wednesday.Product IDS10033
