MELBOURNE - Dec 8/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak low pressure trough is located over eastern Victoria. A high pressure system will pass well south of Tasmania late Tuesday as a low pressure system develops over southeastern Western Australia. This low is expected to track eastwards across South Australia on Wednesday then over northern New South Wales on Thursday and Friday. Another high pressure system will cross waters south of the Bight on Thursday then will move across Tasmania on Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayAreas of drizzle over East Gippsland, mainly during the morning and evening. Morning cloud clearing to a mild and mostly sunny afternoon elsewhere in the south. Early morning fog patches in the northeast and isolated showers developing over the eastern ranges, otherwise a dry, warm and mostly sunny day in the north. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.Fire Danger - Generally low to moderate, but locally high in the southwest.Wednesday 10 DecemberEarly morning fog patches in the east. Isolated showers developing and tending scattered in the far northwest. Cool to mild in the south but warmer in the north. Light winds tending light to moderate southwest to southerly.Thursday 11 DecemberScattered showers over the southeast. Isolated showers over remaining southern districts. Isolated showers also near the northern border with the risk of thunderstorms over the far northwest, but clearing during the morning. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy in the south and warmer in the north. Fresh southeasterly winds throughout.Friday 12 DecemberIsolated showers and drizzle patches over the south, mainly affecting Gippsland, clearing eastwards during the day. Dry and sunny over the north.
