MELBOURNE - Dec 7/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A broad low pressure trough over central and eastern New South Wales lies within an unstable, warm and humid airmass. A weak southerly change will move through southern and central parts of the coast during Monday and the trough is will move westwards as a cold front slips past Tasmania to the south. On Thursday the trough is expected to contract to the northeast of the state as a high moves south of the Bight extending a ridge across the west and southeast. Forecast for the rest of MondayMedium chance of showers in the east. The chance of thunderstorms on the coast, and more likely over the northern ranges and slopes. Mostly sunny in the west. Northwest to northeast winds in the northeast, southwest to southerly winds elsewhere.Tuesday 9 DecemberMedium chance of showers in the east and thunderstorms possible in the northeast. Mostly sunny in the west. Northeast to southeast winds.Wednesday 10 DecemberHigh chance of showers on the coast and eastern ranges. Slight to medium chance of showers west of the ranges, except for the far northwest. The chance of thunderstorms over the eastern half of the state. Northwest to northeast winds in the northeast. Southwest to southeast winds in the west and south.Thursday 11 DecemberHigh chance of showers on the coast and eastern ranges. Slight to medium chance of showers west of the ranges, clearing from the southwest during the day. Northwest to northeast winds in the northeast. The chance of thunderstorms except over the far southwest.
