MELBOURNE - Dec 7/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A broad trough of low pressure will remain near the northern border, before deepening later on Tuesday as a low pressure system develops over the northwest of the State which will then move eastwards during Wednesday. A high will develop southwest of the Bight on Wednesday and then move south of the Bight on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayA slight chance of showers in the far northeast until mid afternoon, with thunder in the early morning. A slight chance of light showers near southern coasts during the morning. Mild to warm in the south, grading to hot in the north. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds, fresh near the coast during the afternoon and evening.Tuesday 9 DecemberA slight chance of showers and thunderstorms northwest of about Coober Pedy late afternoon and evening. A slight chance of showers about Lower Eyre Peninsula, Kangaroo Island and the far south of Yorke Peninsula during the evening. Mild to warm about the coasts grading to hot to very hot in the far north. Light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, tending moderate to fresh south to southeast near the coast.Wednesday 10 DecemberThe slight chance of showers developing over most districts, more likely over central parts north of about Adelaide. The chance of thunderstorms over the Pastoral, Flinders, Mid North, West Coast and Eyre Peninsula districts. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, tending to hot northerly winds over the northern parts of the Pastoral districts.Thursday 11 December The chance of showers and thunderstorms over the North East Pastoral, Flinders, Mid North and Riverland districts, contracting northeastwards to clear during the evening. Slight chance of light morning showers near the Lower South East coast and southern coasts of Kangaroo Island and Fleurieu Peninsula. Mild in the south grading to warm to hot in the north. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals through to midnight Thursday are expected to be 1 to 5 mm over the southern agricultural area and the far west of the State, with 5 to 15 mm over the remainder. Friday until SundayFine on Friday.
