Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 7/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough lying across eastern Victoria is expected to weaken tonight as an associated small low pressure system over eastern Bass Strait moves southwards. A high pressure system will pass well south of Tasmania during Tuesday as a low pressure system develops over southern parts of Western Australia. This low is expected to track eastwards across South Australia on Wednesday then over northern New South Wales on Thursday. By Thursday night another high pressure system is expected to lie west of Tasmania.
Forecast for the rest of SundayRain areas over West Gippsland, easing. Showers contracting to southern and mountain areas. Isolated thunderstorms over the north and east, clearing late this evening. Humid and mostly cloudy with moderate south to southeasterly winds, tending variable in the east.Monday 8 DecemberScattered showers over the southern and mountain areas, gradually clearing from the west. Dry over the northwest. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy in the south but warmer in the north. Generally light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Fire Danger -  Low to Moderate.Tuesday 9 DecemberFine apart from isolated showers over East Gippsland. Mild in the south with cloud mostly clearing during the day. Warmer and mostly sunny over the north. Light winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Wednesday 10 DecemberIsolated showers developing and tending scattered in the far north and east. The chance of thunderstorms over the northeast. Cool to mild in the south but warmer in the north. Moderate to locally fresh southerly winds.Thursday 11 DecemberScattered showers in the south and east tending isolated over the southwest and dry over the northwest. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy in the south and warmer in the north. Moderate southerly wind.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
