MELBOURNE - Dec 6/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough is located over eastern Victoria and a low pressure system is expected to form off the Gippsland coast today. The low will drift southwards on Monday and the trough will contract to the east of the State. A high pressure system will pass well south of Tasmania during Tuesday as another low pressure trough extends from inland Australia to northwest Victoria. This trough will track eastwards across the State on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SundayRain over Gippsland and central districts with heavy falls possible, easing to showers late morning and during the afternoon. Scattered showers over remaining eastern districts tending more isolated over the west. Isolated thunderstorms over the northeast. Cool in the south, mild in the north with moderate to locally fresh south to southeasterly winds.Fire Danger - Generally low to moderate but reaching high over the northwest.Monday 8 DecemberIsolated showers over the south and east, gradually clearing from the west. Dry over the northwest. Mild and mostly cloudy in the south, warm and sunny in the north. Generally light to moderate southwest to southerly winds, locally fresh along the coast.Tuesday 9 DecemberFine apart from isolated showers over East Gippsland. Mild in the south with cloud mostly clearing during the morning. Warmer and mostly sunny over the north. Light winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Wednesday 10 DecemberIsolated showers tending scattered in the east. The chance of thunderstorms over the northeast.
