MELBOURNE - Dec 6/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A broad low pressure trough across central and eastern New South Wales lies within an unstable, warm and humid airmass. This afternoon and evening an upper level trough will move through the southern and central parts of the state and a surface low will develop briefly off the south coast later as the upper trough moves offshore. The surface trough is expected to move slowly more eastward during Sunday, and contract mainly to the ranges, northern inland and eastern parts by Monday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayMostly clear in the far west. Cloudy elsewhere. High to very high chance of showers and thunderstorms elsewhere with possible heavy rain areas on the south coast. Thunderstorms possibly severe. Northwest to northeasterly winds in the northeast, southwest to southeasterly winds elsewhere.Sunday 7 DecemberMostly sunny in the northwest. Medium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms elsewhere. Possible heavy rain areas on the south coast at first. Northwest to northeasterly winds in the northeast, otherwise southwest to southeasterly winds.Fire Danger - Very High: Upper Central West Plains, North Western Fire Areas.Monday 8 DecemberMedium chance of showers and thunderstorms in the east. Mostly sunny in the west.
