MELBOURNE - Dec 4/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over the northeast of the State will persist today and during the weekend as a low pressure system forms near the southern New South Wales coast. A high pressure system will move from south of Western Australia to pass well south of Tasmania during the weekend. The tail end of a cold front crossing waters south of the Bight later Sunday is likely to cross Tasmania on Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers in the south and east extending to remaining districts during the afternoon, but generally dry over the far northwest. Showers becoming more extensive about the eastern ranges during the day with isolated thunderstorms developing. Thunderstorms also possible over western districts this afternoon and evening. Mild in the south, warmer in the north with moderate to locally fresh southwest to southeasterly winds.Fire Danger - Generally high in the north.Saturday 6 DecemberShowers over central and eastern districts tending more isolated over the west. Isolated thunderstorms over the north and near the ranges. Cool in the south, mild in the north with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds.Sunday 7 DecemberShowers over central and eastern districts tending more isolated over the west. Isolated thunderstorms over the northeast. Cool in the south, mild in the north with light to moderate southeasterly winds, fresh near the coast.Monday 8 DecemberScattered showers over the east with isolated showers extending to the southwest. Mild and mostly cloudy in the south, warm and sunny in the north.
