MELBOURNE - Dec 4/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough lies over western NSW with warm, humid air across much of NSW, the trough will move only slowly further to the east over the next 24 hours. This will lead to showers and thunderstorms for northern, eastern and central parts of the state for the next few days with localised severe storms possible. An upper level disturbance is likely to reach eastern NSW on Saturday further increasing the thunderstorms activity and the potential for severe weather. The surface trough is likely to lie from the southeast to the central north Sunday and Monday with further isolated thunderstorm activity anticipated. Forecast for the rest of FridayShowers and thunderstorms over the northeast half of the state mainly in the afternoon and evening. Isolated severe thunderstorms possible. Fine and mostly sunny in the southwest. Morning fog patches in the east, particularly along the southern coast. Northeast to northwesterly winds in the northeast, with southwest to southeasterly winds extending across the remainder.Saturday 6 DecemberShowers and thunderstorms over eastern and southern districts, locally severe. Fine and mostly sunny in the far northwest. Northwest to northeasterly winds in the northeast, otherwise southwest to southeasterly winds.Sunday 7 DecemberShowers and thunderstorms over the eastern half, and possibly along the southern border. Fine and mostly sunny remainder. Northwest to northeasterly winds in the northeast, otherwise southwest to southeasterly winds.Monday 8 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the east. Fine and mostly sunny in the west.
