MELBOURNE - Dec 4/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure will remain over the far north of the State through the weekend. A high south of WA will move to a position south of the Bight on Friday, then move southeastwards to be located over the Tasman Sea by Sunday night. Forecast for the rest of ThursdaySlight chance of light showers about the southern agricultural area. Medium chance of showers and thunderstorms northeast of about Marree, mainly in the far northeast. Mild to warm this evening with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Friday 5 DecemberThe chance of showers and thunderstorms developing west of Coober Pedy to Fowlers Bay, more likely in the northwest corner of the State. The chance of showers about the southern coastal areas, possibly reaching remaining parts of the southern agricultural area south of about Adelaide. Mild about southern coasts, warm to hot over the remainder. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds.Saturday 6 DecemberA slight chance of thundery showers in the far northwest. Slight chance of light showers about southern coasts and ranges and the east coast of Eyre Peninsula. Mild to warm in the south, hot inland. Light to moderate southeasterly winds, fresh about the coasts at times.Sunday 7 DecemberA slight chance of thundery showers about the northern border and a slight chance of showers about the southern agricultural area. mainly warm to hot with moderate to fresh southeast to northeasterly winds.Monday 8 December A slight chance of thundery showers persisting about the northern border. A slight chance of light showers about the southern coasts. Mild to warm in the south, grading to warm to hot in the north. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals through to midnight Sunday are expected to be generally up to 2 mm, possibly reaching 2 to 5 mm over southern coastal areas, with isolated falls of 10 to 20 mm with thunderstorms in the far north. Tuesday until ThursdayA slight chance of showers persisting about the southern coastal areas. A chance of showers extending across the State from the west, before contracting to the east and clearing late in the period. Mild to warm about the coasts grading to hot inland.
