Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 3/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over the State will contract to the east of the State today. The trough is likely to persist over the northeast of the State on Friday and during the weekend as a low pressure system forms near the southern New South Wales coast. A high pressure system will move from south of Western Australia to pass well south of Tasmania during the weekend. The tail end of a cold front crossing waters south of the Bight later Sunday is likely to cross Tasmania on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayLocal showers and thunderstorms over eastern districts this morning tending to clear this morning. Isolated showers over remaining south and mountain districts with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms redeveloping over the northeast in the afternoon. Mild in the south, but warm over the north. Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds extending eastwards.Fire Danger -  High in the north.Friday 5 DecemberIsolated showers in the south and east tending more extensive near the ranges. Isolated showers extending to the north in the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms over the northeast. Mild in the south, warmer in the north with moderate to locally fresh south to southeasterly winds.Saturday 6 DecemberScattered showers in the south and east tending to rain areas over East Gippsland. Isolated thunderstorms over the northeast. Cool in the south, mild in the north with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds.Sunday 7 DecemberShowers over the south and east tending more isolated over the north but remaining dry over the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms over the east. Cool in the south, mild in the north with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
