Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 3/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strengthening high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge towards the Queensland coast, directing warm, humid air into a broad trough over western and southern New South Wales, and leading to unsettled conditions across most districts. A second trough, currently over South Australia, is expected to reach western districts during Thursday, continuing to the northeast during Friday and Saturday before stalling. Behind this, a high south of the Bight should push some slightly cooler and drier air into western and central districts by the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayShowers and thunderstorms in most areas. Winds generally northwest to northeasterly, fresh along the northern coast, although fairly erratic near thunderstorms.Thursday 4 DecemberShowers and thunderstorms in most areas except the far southwest, becoming most likely in during the afternoon and evening. Northeasterly winds near the coast, freshening in the afternoon. Northwesterly winds inland, turning west to southwesterly in the west.Friday 5 DecemberThe chance of showers and thunderstorms along the southern and central coasts, and adjacent ranges, and more broadly across the northeast. Fine and mostly sunny in the far west. Northeast to northwesterly winds in the northeast, with southwest to southeasterly winds extending across the remainder.Saturday 6 DecemberThe chance of showers and thunderstorms along the southern and central coasts, and adjacent ranges, the southern inland and more broadly across the northeast. Fine and mostly sunny in the far northwest. Northwest to northeasterly winds in the far northeast, otherwise southwest to southeasterly winds.Sunday 7 DecemberThe chance of showers and thunderstorms over the eastern half, and more broadly across the northern and central ranges. Fine and mostly sunny in the far northwest.
