MELBOURNE - Dec 2/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over South Australia will track southeastwards to reach western Victoria by Wednesday afternoon then gradually cross to the east of the State during Thursday then over the Tasman Sea on Friday. During the weekend a low pressure system is likely to form along the northern part of this trough near or just off the southern New South Wales coast. A high pressure system will move from well south of Western Australia on Thursday eastwards to pass south of Tasmania during the weekend. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayShowers and isolated thunderstorms developing over most western areas this morning then extending eastwards to remaining districts during the afternoon. The showers tending to rain this afternoon and evening over southwestern and central regions. Mild to warm and humid in the south, but warm to hot over the north. Generally light to moderate northeast to easterly winds, fresh about the coast.Fire Danger - High to Very high in the north and west.Thursday 4 DecemberShowers and thunderstorms, extending eastwards and tending to clear from the west. Mild in the south, but warm over the north. Moderate southwesterly winds extending eastwards.Friday 5 DecemberIsolated showers in the south and east with possible thunderstorms in the east. Mild in the south, warm in the north with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Saturday 6 DecemberIsolated showers in southern and mountain districts, more extensive over Gippsland.
