MELBOURNE - Dec 2/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak high pressure ridge extends over Victoria. A low pressure trough at the head of the Bight will track southeastwards to reach western Victoria by Wednesday afternoon then gradually cross to the east of the State during Thursday then over the Tasman Sea on Friday. A high pressure system will move from well south of the Bight to lie southwest of Tasmania on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms possible over the far east. Light winds inland and easing seabreezes near the coast.Wednesday 3 DecemberShowers, more extensive over eastern districts. Isolated thunderstorms. Mild to warm in the south, but warm to hot over the north with generally light to moderate northeast to easterly winds, fresh about the coast.Fire Danger - Very high in the northwest.Thursday 4 DecemberShowers and thunderstorms, extending eastwards and tending to clear from the west. Mild in the south, but warm over the north. Moderate southwesterly winds extending eastwards.Friday 5 DecemberIsolated showers in the south and east with possible thunderstorms in the east. Mild in the south, warm in the north with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Saturday 6 DecemberIsolated showers in southern and mountain districts.
