MELBOURNE - Dec 2/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge towards the Queensland coast directing warm and humid air into a broad pressure trough over western New South Wales bringing unsettled conditions to most districts. The trough is expected to move over the northeast of the state during Friday and Saturday as another high pressure system moves south of the Bight extending a ride across the western and southeastern parts bringing milder and drier southerly winds there. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayMedium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms in central and eastern areas. Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the northwest. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Northeast to northwesterly winds in the north, tending southerly in the south.Wednesday 3 DecemberSlight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the northeastern inland, medium to high chance elsewhere. A southwest to southeasterly change spreading through the south. Northwest to northeasterly winds over the remainder.Fire Danger - Very High in Lower Central West Plains, Eastern Riverina and in Southern Riverina.Thursday 4 DecemberPartly cloudy in the far southwest. Medium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms elsewhere. Northwest to northeasterly winds in the north.Friday 5 DecemberMedium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms in the east, most likely about the northern ranges during the afternoon. Partly cloudy in the west. Northerly winds on the far north coast and ranges, with southwest to southeasterly winds extending across the remainder.Saturday 6 DecemberMedium to high chance of showers and the chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Medium chance of showers on the south coast and ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere.
