Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 1/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high south of Tasmania extends a ridge to another high centre over the Tasman Sea with a generally northerly airstream over NSW. A broad slow-moving trough of low pressure is currently over South Australia. This pattern will direct warmer and increasingly humid air from the tropics over New South Wales. An unsettled period of showers and thunderstorms across most districts is expected through the week. Drier conditions should spread into the far southwest as the trough moves slowly east.
Forecast for the rest of MondayA high chance of showers and thunderstorms across most districts, mostly during the afternoon and possibly locally severe. Dry in the far southwest and on the far north coast. Northerly winds tending southwesterly in the far southwest later.Fire Danger -  Very High for the Northern Slopes, Northwest, Eastern Riverina and Southern Riverina fire districts.Tuesday 2 DecemberA medium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms for the eastern half. Dry in the southwest. Northwest winds in the north shifting southwesterly in the south. Northerly winds on the coast.Wednesday 3 DecemberA medium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms in most districts, decreasing to a slight chance on the southwestern border. A southwest to southeast change spreading through the south. Northwest to northeast winds over the remainder.Thursday 4 DecemberA medium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms in most districts. Dry in the far southwest. A southwest to southeast change reaching central parts during the day.
