Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 28/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high centred to the west of Bass Strait extends a ridge over eastern New South Wales, with a second high pressure centre developing off the southern coast. This new high will strengthen and move to the central Tasman Sea over the next day or two, helping direct warmer and increasingly humid air from the tropics over New South Wales. Meanwhile a broad low pressure trough in the state's west should remain slow-moving throughout the forecast period, leading to an unsettled period of showers and thunderstorms across most districts from Sunday onwards.
Forecast for the rest of FridayThe chance of showers in the northeast. Possible showers or thunderstorms inland near the Queensland border. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Saturday 29 NovemberThe chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms over the northern inland with the showers also possible over the northern ranges. Slight risk of an afternoon shower or two about the southern ranges. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. East to northeasterly winds, freshening along the coast in the afternoon.Sunday 30 NovemberA medium to high chance of showers or thunderstorms in most districts, mainly in the afternoon. The chance of showers is least in the far northeast and southwest. Northwest to northeasterly winds, fresh along the coast.Monday 1 DecemberA medium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms across most eastern districts, with the chances decreasing in the far west of the state. Northerly winds tending southwesterly in the far southwest later.Tuesday 2 DecemberA slight to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms for all eastern districts. Dry in the west. Northwest winds in the north shifting southwesterly in the south. Northerly winds on the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Saturday.Product IDN10031
