MELBOURNE - Nov 25/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough will bring a southerly change and isolated thunderstorm activity to the far north coast this evening before it stalls near the Queensland border. This trough is expected to produce some fairly persistent and possibly locally heavy rain about the far north coast Wednesday with showers and thunderstorms developing generally about the northeast during the day. A weak high pressure ridge will develop over southern and central parts of the state tonight before a second southeasterly change moves along the southern coast late Wednesday and along the northern coast Thursday. Isolated showers are expected with this change, becoming more widespread along the northern coast on Thursday. A high pressure system will move into the central Tasman Sea Friday with further showers for the north coast but generally fine conditions elsewhere. The high is expected to move east over the Tasman on the Saturday as a slow moving trough deepens near the NSW/SA border, resulting in hotter northerly winds over the inland. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayMedium to high chance of showers in the northeast with isolated thunderstorms. Mostly clear elsewhere. Milder southwest to southeasterly winds extending throughout.Wednesday 26 NovemberHigh chance of showers in the northeast and isolated thunderstorms with possible localised heavy rain. Medium chance of showers on the southern half of the coast and adjacent ranges later in the afternoon and evening. Mostly sunny remainder.
