MELBOURNE - Nov 19/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is centred over the Tasman Sea. A low pressure trough crossing the Bight is expected to cross the State on Thursday. A weak high pressure system will follow the trough, moving across the State Friday afternoon and evening. Another trough will reach western Victoria on Saturday afternoon and central areas Saturday evening, clearing the far east early Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine and mostly clear tonight. Evening coastal seabreezes. Light northerly winds inland.Thursday 20 NovemberIsolated showers entering the west during the morning, extending eastwards during the afternoon and evening, but mainly affecting southern Victoria. The chance of thunderstorms over the southwest. Warm with moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a westerly change in the far west extending to eastern areas by the evening.Fire Danger - Generally very high but reaching severe in the north.Friday 21 NovemberIsolated showers in the south and east clearing eastwards during the afternoon. Warm in the north, milder in the south with moderate southwest to southerly winds.Saturday 22 NovemberA warm to hot day with light winds tending northerly ahead of an afternoon southerly change reaching the west during the afternoon and central areas during the evening. Isolated showers developing mainly behind the change and the risk of thunderstorms over the northwest.Sunday 23 NovemberIsolated showers and the chance of thunderstorms over most districts, but generally dry over the southwest.
