Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 19/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred near Victorian coast extends a ridge into New South Wales. This will promote generally fine weather for today, apart from a few showers and thunderstorms in the far northeast where a weak trough is present. On Wednesday night the high will shift east to the Tasman Sea and become dominant, bringing a return to hotter northerly winds during the second half of the week. A trough developing in the southwest later Thursday and moving through to central NSW Friday is not expected to be strong enough to bring any meaningful rainfall or significant cooling so hot conditions will continue through the weekend in most areas. A strong cool change is expected early next week.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the far northeast. Fine and mostly clear remainder. Northeast to southeasterly winds, tending southwesterly west of the ranges.Thursday 20 NovemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms likely about the northeast, and the chance of a light shower or two over the southern inland later. A hot day inland. Northeasterly winds strengthening along the coast. Northwest winds inland, freshening in the south before a gusty southwest change in the southwest.Fire Danger - Severe Southern Riverina, very high most of remainder.Friday 21 NovemberScattered showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. Isolated showers about the far southeast, mostly afternoon. A hot day especially in central and northern parts. Northwest winds, tending milder northeasterly along the coastal fringe ahead of a southwest to southerly change through southern and central districts.Saturday 22 NovemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms likely in the far northeast and possible in the far west in the afternoon. A hot day in the north. Easterly winds tending westerly during the day over the inland and ranges. Southeast to northeast winds on the coast.Sunday 23 NovemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms possible for most districts. Hot in most areas though sea breezes along the coastal fringe before a weak southwest to southerly change in the west and south. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Thursday.Product IDN10031
