Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 18/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred near Victorian coast extends a ridge into New South Wales. This will promote generally fine weather for today, apart from a few showers and thunderstorms in the northeast where a weak trough is present. By the end of Wednesday the high will shift east to the Tasman Sea and become dominant, bringing a return to hotter northerly winds during the second half of the week. A trough developing in the west later Thursday and moving through Friday is not expected to be strong enough to bring any meaningful rainfall or significant cooling so hot conditions will continue into the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayShowers are expected along the coast and east ranges in the north with possible afternoon thunderstorms. Fine and mostly sunny remainder. Northeast to southeasterly winds, tending southwesterly west of the ranges.Fire Danger -  Very High for the Northern Slopes and North Western NSW Fire Areas.Thursday 20 NovemberShowers and thunderstorms likely in the northeast, and the chance of light showers over the southern inland later. A hot day inland. Northeasterly winds strengthening along the coast. Northwest winds inland before a gusty southwest change in the west.Friday 21 NovemberThe chance of showers in the south. Showers more likely in the northeast where afternoon thunderstorms are also possible. A hot day especially in the north. Northwest winds ahead of a southwest change over the ranges and inland. Northeast winds ahead of a southeasterly change along the coast.Saturday 22 NovemberShowers and thunderstorms are likely in the northeast in the afternoon. Mostly fine elsewhere. A hot day especially in the north. Easterly winds tending westerly during the day over the inland and ranges. Southeast to northeast winds on the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Wednesday.Product IDN10031
