MELBOURNE - Nov 16/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation Strong to gale-force southwest to southerly winds over the east of the state will ease this evening as a low pressure system well off the south coast moves steadily away to the east. A cool southerly change will reach the north coast overnight tonight before a high pressure ridge becomes established across NSW tomorrow with lighter winds and milder temperatures throughout. The ridge will weaken a little on Tuesday as a weak trough develops over the northeast, this will have only a fairly minor affect on our weather with only isolated coastal showers expected Tuesday/Wednesday. A high pressure system from the Bight is forecast to move into the Tasman Sea on Wednesday with winds turning hotter northerly Thursday before a southwest change in the west of the state. Forecast for the rest of SundayDry and partly cloudy apart from the chance of a shower along the southern coast and the slight chance of a thunderstorm on the far north coast late afternoon/early evening. Warm to hot in the far northeast before a southwest to southerly change tonight. West to southwesterly winds through the remainder, strong and gusty in the east and shifting southerly near the coast, before easing this evening.Monday 17 NovemberFine and mostly sunny day. Isolated showers and drizzle patches likely developing along the coast and adjacent ranges in the south and far north in the evening. Milder south to southwesterly winds throughout, turning southeast to northeasterly on the coast.Fire Danger - Very high: Greater Hunter, New England, Northern Slopes, Northwestern.Tuesday 18 NovemberFine and mostly sunny apart from the chance of a shower or a little drizzle along the coast and adjacent ranges. Southwesterly winds over the inland, and southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast.Wednesday 19 NovemberThe chance of showers about the coast and eastern ranges, more likely in the north with possible afternoon thunderstorms. Fine and mostly sunny in the west. Northeast to southeasterly winds, tending southwesterly west of the ranges.Thursday 20 NovemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms likely in the far northeast, and isolated showers possible about the southwest and far south later. A hot day inland. Northeast winds strengthening nalong the coast.
