MELBOURNE - Nov 15/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system near Adelaide is expected to move eastwards across northern Victoria tonight then across eastern Victoria early Sunday to reach the central Tasman Sea Sunday night. A cold front is expected to cross Tasmania on Sunday night then a high pressure system will develop over the Bight on Monday and move towards western Victoria on Tuesday before crossing the State on Wednesday morning. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayRain and thunderstorms spreading from the west to reach eastern areas late tonight. Locally heavy falls. Cool to mild with mainly moderate northeast to southeasterly winds turning west to southwesterly late tonight over the northwest and freshening.Sunday 16 NovemberRain over central and eastern districts with locally heavy falls and isolated thunderstorms, contracting to the east late in the morning then clearing. Isolated showers to follow in the south. Cool in the south, mild in the north with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds extending throughout and becoming strong over East Gippsland.Fire Danger - Locally high in the north.Monday 17 NovemberIsolated showers, mainly over southern and mountain districts. A cool to mild day with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds.Tuesday 18 NovemberIsolated showers near the coast, clearing by the afternoon.
