MELBOURNE - Nov 15/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak trough and associated south to southwesterly change lie from the central north of the state to the Mid North Coast, and will slowly shift towards the northeast tonight. Another hot day is expected n the far northeast tomorrow before this trough crosses the region in the evening. A second trough, currently near Adelaide, will move east tonight and Sunday morning, bringing some rain to most southern and central districts, but particularly the southeast. A low developing within this trough is expected to skirt the southern border region overnight then deepen off the far south coast Sunday morning, before moving steadily away to the east later Sunday. Strong westerly winds are expected through much of the east tomorrow, turning cooler southwest to southerly over the southeast as the low moves away and a high pressure ridge develops across the state. This next high looks likely to dominate the charts during the first half of the new week. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayThe possibility of a late afternoon/early evening shower or thunderstorm across the north but little if any rain associated. Patchy rain over the south and some central districts, increasing in the evening. Possible late thunderstorms in the southwest. Remaining hot in the evening for the northern inland with northwesterly winds before a milder southwest change tonight. Southwest to southeasterly winds over the remainder apart from northerly winds persisting on the far north coast.Sunday 16 NovemberAreas of rain in western, southern and central districts, contracting east during the morning then mostly clearing by afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms in the southeast during the morning. Dry and partly cloudy across the north. Very hot for much of the far north coast, and a hot day for the adjacent northern ranges and western slopes, with fresh to strong west to northwest winds in these areas apart from sea breezes along the coastal fringe. West to southwesterly winds over the remainder, becoming strong and gusty in the east before a southwest to southerly change about southern and central parts of the coast.Fire Danger - Severe: north coast, northern ranges and adjacent western slopes and plains. Very high: Greater Hunter, Greater Sydney, Illawarra, Central Ranges and Upper Central West Plains.Monday 17 NovemberGenerally fine and mostly sunny across the state just the chance of a shower along the coast and adjacent ranges later. Milder south to southwesterly winds throughout turning southeast to northeasterly on the coast.Tuesday 18 NovemberThe chance of showers along the coast and adjacent ranges, otherwise fine and mostly sunny. Southwesterly winds over the inland, and generally northeasterly winds near the coast.Wednesday 19 NovemberIsolated showers about the coast and eastern ranges with a possible afternoon thunderstorm in the north. Fine and mostly sunny in the west.
