Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 12/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak ridge of high pressure will extend along the east Queensland coast during the next few days. A slow moving surface trough extends from the northwest of the state into the southeastern interior. It will weaken from Thursday as a new trough moves east over central Australia. Hot conditions will affect much of the southern interior during the forecast period, and should spread into southeast parts late in the week as the new trough shifts east into the state.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayClear across a lot of the state. Showers and thunderstorms in a band from the northwest to the southeast interior. The chance of some showers developing about the Gold Coast and about the northeast coast. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds about most of the state, southwest to southeast winds over the southern interior.Thursday 13 NovemberFine across a lot of the state. A slight to moderate chance of some showers about the northeast coast. The slight chance of some showers and storms about the northwest and southeast of the state. Hot over the southern interior.Fire Danger -  Severe about the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, high to very high over most of the rest of the state.Friday 14 NovemberA weak ridge along the east coast will push some showers onto the northeast coast. A surface trough is likely to enter the southwest of the state late in the day, generating some showers and thunderstorms over the region. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot over the southern interior.Saturday 15 NovemberA new high over the Great Australian Bight may push a surface trough eastwards across the southern interior, though there's some uncertainty regarding it's movement at this stage. Some showers and storms are possible over the southern interior and southeast though with little rainfall expected. Hot to very hot northwest winds ahead of the trough will lead to enhanced fire dangers about southern districts. Some showers and storms are also possible about the far northwest of the state with the slight chance of showers about the northeast coast.Sunday 16 NovemberHot to very hot across the southern districts ahead of the surface trough, which may move off the southeast coast late in the day. Mainly fine across the state, though with the chance of some showers and storms about the northwest and southeast of the state.Monday until WednesdayA weak surface trough may redevelop about the southeast interior on Tuesday, possibly producing some showers and storms. Much of the remainder of the state should be fine and mostly sunny.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Thursday.Product IDQ10700
