Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 7/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge along the east Queensland coast. A surface trough over the interior of the state will shift slowly east during the next two days and then weaken.
Forecast for the rest of FridayHotter, drier air pushing in from central Australia should produce fine and hot conditions over the interior. A medium chance of some showers and thunderstorms about the northwest of the state and the slight chance in the southeast near a surface trough. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds across the eastern districts, and mostly light southwest to southeast winds elsewhere.Fire Danger -  Very High in the Channel Country, the eastern interior, and the northeast coastal districts.Saturday 8 NovemberAn upper ridge over central Australia should dominate the weather pattern, yielding fine and sunny conditions across most of Queensland, and hot temperatures in the southwest. A medium chance of showers and thunderstorms in the northwest and a slight chance of showers in the southeast.Sunday 9 NovemberThe upper ridge should maintain fine and sunny conditions across most of Queensland. The slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the northwest and the slight chance of showers about the northeast tropical coast. Hot over the southern interior.Monday 10 NovemberA high pressure system over the Great Australian Bight is expected to push a surface trough across the southern districts, with a band of showers and storms stretching across the western and southern districts. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere, just the slight chance of a shower about the northeast coast.Tuesday until ThursdayThe surface trough is expected to continue triggering showers and thunderstorms as it moves slowly eastward on Tuesday. Showers and storms contracting into the southeast towards the middle of the week as a new upper level ridge over western Queensland settles down conditions in the region. The slight chance of some coastal showers in the northern tropics in an onshore flow.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Friday.Product IDQ10700
