MELBOURNE - Nov 7/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is located over the Tasman Sea. A low pressure trough will reach southwest Victoria on Saturday morning before pushing rapidly eastwards across central parts of the State in the early afternoon to reach the far east by the evening. Another high pressure system will move into the Bight on Sunday with a ridge briefly pushing across southern Victoria. A cold front will undercut this high then cross Tasmania and eastern Bass Strait early on Monday. The high pressure system will then progress eastwards and cross Bass Strait during Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayFine. Light northerly winds and easing seabreezes along the Gippsland coast.Saturday 8 NovemberWarm to hot at first with northerly winds becoming fresh to strong over southern and elevated areas. A cooler gusty southwesterly change extending from the southwest during the morning to reach central areas in the early afternoon and the east later in the afternoon and evening. Isolated showers with and following the change mainly over southern districts and areas of raised dust in the northwest.Fire Danger - High to very high, reaching severe in the Mallee.Sunday 9 NovemberFine. Cloudy morning in the south. Cool to mild in the south but mild to warm over the north. Moderate to fresh southerly winds.Monday 10 NovemberFine apart from isolated showers near the coast. Cool to mild in the south but mild to warm over the north. Moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.Tuesday 11 NovemberFine apart from isolated showers in the east, mainly in the morning. Cool to mild in the south but warm over the north.
