MELBOURNE - Nov 6/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high over the Tasman Sea will extend a the ridge along the east Queensland coast. A surface trough over the interior of the state will shift slowly east during the next few days. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayA medium chance of showers and thunderstorms in a band from the central interior down to the southeast, and also in a separate area over the Gulf Country region. Fine elsewhere except for the moderate chance of showers about the north tropical coast, clearing during the day. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds across the eastern districts, and light to moderate southwest to southeast winds elsewhere.Fire Danger - Severe Fire Danger in the Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Very High in the Maranoa and Warrego district and the Herbert and Lower Burdekin.Friday 7 NovemberHotter, drier air pushing in from central Australia should produce fine and hot conditions over the interior. A medium chance of some showers and thunderstorms about the northwest of the state and the slight chance in the southeast near a surface trough.Saturday 8 NovemberAn upper and lower level ridge over central Australia should dominate the weather pattern, yielding fine and sunny conditions across most of Queensland, and hot temperatures in the southwest. The slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the northwest and a slight chance of showers in the southeast.Sunday 9 NovemberThe upper and lower level ridge should maintaining fine and sunny conditions across most of Queensland. The slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the northwest and the slight chance of showers about the northeast coast.
