Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 1/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deep low pressure system passing south of Tasmania and the associated cold front east of Bass Strait will move rapidly eastwards over the southern Tasman Sea during Sunday. A high pressure system will move over Bight waters tonight before drifting slowly towards western Victoria on Sunday then crossing the State Sunday night to reach the Tasman Sea on Monday. The high will move southeastwards over the southern Tasman Sea on Tuesday while a low pressure trough will reach western Victoria by the afternoon and move through central parts of the State late in the afternoon and evening and the east on Wednesday morning.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers over southern and mountain areas with local hail and snowfalls on the ranges down to 1200 metres. The chance of thunderstorms over Gippsland. Dry over the northern plains. Cool to cold and partly cloudy with fresh to strong and squally west to southwesterly winds near the coast but winds gradually moderating inland.Sunday 2 NovemberScattered showers in the south clearing from the west later in the day. Brief snow showers above 1200 metres, mostly during the morning. Local hail about the Gippsland coast in the morning. A cool to mild and sunny day in the north, rather cold and partly cloudy in the south. Moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds easing in the west.Fire Danger -  Low to moderateMonday 3 NovemberFine apart from isolated early showers in the far east of Gippsland. A mostly sunny day although high cloud developing later in the west. Early inland frost then mild to warm with light winds tending northeast to northerly and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Tuesday 4 NovemberFine. A warm to very warm day day with moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a cooler southwesterly change developing in western and central areas during the afternoon.Wednesday 5 NovemberIsolated showers in the south and east, mostly during the morning. A mild to warm and mostly sunny day in the north but cooler and partly cloudy in the south. Moderate to locally fresh southwest to southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Sunday.Product IDV10310
