Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 31/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front over western Victoria will cross the remainder of the State overnight and early Saturday and an associated deep low pressure system will pass just south of Tasmania later on Saturday. A high pressure system will move over Bight waters on Saturday night before drifting slowly towards western Victoria on Sunday then crossing the State Sunday night to reach the Tasman Sea on Monday. The high will move southeastwards over the southern Tasman Sea on Tuesday while a low pressure trough will reach western Victoria during the afternoon and central parts of the State in the evening.
Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers in the west extending to central areas later in the evening. A band of rain to follow in the the west in the late evening. A cooler southwesterly change in the west, extending to the east overnight.Saturday 1 NovemberA band of rain contracting to eastern districts later in the morning then clearing the State during the early afternoon. Showers to follow over southern and mountain areas. Local hail possible in the south. Snowfalls developing down to 1200 metres later in the day. Cool to cold and mostly cloudy in the south with fresh to strong and squally west to southwesterly winds. Cool to mild and partly cloudy in the north with fresh southwest to southerly winds.Sunday 2 NovemberScattered showers in the south clearing from the west later in the day. Brief snow showers above 1200 metres, mostly during the morning. Local hail about the Gippsland coast in the morning. A cool to mild and sunny day in the north, rather cold and partly cloudy in the south. Moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds easing in the west.Monday 3 NovemberFine. A mostly sunny day although cloud developing later in the west. Early inland frost then mild to warm with light winds tending northerly and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Tuesday 4 NovemberFine apart from a possible shower in the southwest during the afternoon and evening. A generally warm day with moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a cooler southwesterly change developing in western and central areas.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Saturday.Product IDV10310
