Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 30/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure will persist over northern Victoria today. A cold front will move from the Southern Ocean to reach western Victoria late on Friday afternoon then cross the remainder of the State overnight and early Saturday. Another high pressure system will move over Bight waters later on Saturday drifting slowly towards western Victoria on Sunday, reaching the Tasman Sea on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine. Generally light to moderate west to southwesterly winds.Friday 31 OctoberEarly fog patches in the south. Becoming cloudy with isolated showers in the west, mainly during the afternoon and extending eastwards during the evening. Warm to hot with moderate to locally fresh northerly winds ahead of a cooler southwesterly change in the west, extending to the east overnight. A band of rain to follow in the west.Saturday 1 NovemberRain areas over central and eastern districts contracting to the east and clearing during the morning. Isolated showers to follow contracting to the coast during the afternoon. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy in the south with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds. Warm and becoming mostly sunny in the north.Sunday 2 NovemberIsolated showers in the south mostly clearing during the evening, falling as snow above 1300 metres. A cool to mild and sunny day in the north, partly cloudy in the south. Light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Monday 3 NovemberFine apart from morning fog patches in the south. A mostly sunny day although cloud developing later in the west. Early inland frost then mild to warm with light winds tending northerly and afternoon coastal seabreezes.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Friday.Product IDV10310
