MELBOURNE - Oct 29/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A 1017 hPa high centred over Kangaroo Island will move eastwards to be centred over the Tasman Sea by Thursday afternoon. A cold front near the western border around midnight Thursday will move northeastwards over South Australia on Friday, reaching Moomba around midnight. A new high will move in south of the Bight by Saturday night and move east to be south of Mount Gambier late Sunday night. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayPossible early morning fog patches about the Kangaroo Island, Murraylands and the South East districts. Morning drizzle about the Lower South East. Chance of thundery showers west of about Ernabella to Fowlers Bay. Warm to hot. Light variable winds, tending moderate northeast to northwesterly winds in the west, becoming fresh and gusty in the far northwest during the afternoon.Friday 31 October A chance of thundery showers extending northeastwards across the State, apart from northeast of Marree and more likely in the Northwest Pastoral. Warm to hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a cooler moderate to fresh south to southwest change near the western border early morning, extending to Moomba around midnight. Saturday 1 NovemberA chance of showers about the southern agricultural area, clearing in the afternoon. A chance of thundery showers over the Pastorals and Flinders district, clearing during the morning. Cool to mild in the south, grading to warm in the north. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds.Sunday 2 November Fine apart from a chance of morning showers about the Lower South East coast. Mild in the south, grading to warm to hot in the north. Light to moderate south to southeast winds and fresh afternoon coastal sea breezes. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Sunday are expected to be generally less than 2 mm, with local falls of 2 to 10 mm with thunderstorms. Monday until WednesdayA chance of thundery showers in the far northwest. Fine elsewhere.
