Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 28/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near Adelaide is extending a ridge across central New South Wales in the wake of a cold front. This high will be the dominant synoptic feature in the region during the next few days at it drifts slowly east, maintaining dry conditions in most areas. A weak trough will develop across the south later Thursday, although the air is expected to be too dry for any significant precipitation to result. During Friday the high is forecast to strengthen over the Tasman Sea while a cold front approaches from the southwest, with warm northerly winds being drawn down between these systems. On Saturday the cold front will move through most southern and central districts, bringing cooler conditions and some shower activity before moving through to the northeast on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine and mostly sunny, apart from the chance of a shower or two along central parts of the coast this morning. Areas of bushfire smoke in the northeast. Southwest to southeasterly winds, tending light and variable in the far west.Thursday 30 OctoberFine and mostly sunny. Hot day in the west. Northeasterly winds near the coast, freshening in the north, and light and variable winds inland.Friday 31 OctoberShowers developing in the northeast during the afternoon, mainly about the northwest slope, with the chance of thunderstorms. The slight chance of late showers in the far southwest. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. A warm to hot day throughout. West to northwesterly winds inland, freshening during the afternoon. North to northeasterly winds near the coast, freshening.Saturday 1 NovemberShowers and possible thunderstorms in the southwest at first, extending through southern and central districts with the passage of a trough, and developing in the northeast during the afternoon. Warm to hot northerly winds in the northeast. A cooler, gusty south to southwesterly change extending through the remainder.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Wednesday.Product IDN10031
